The secret Sussex village near Brighton which is a hidden gem

Brighton has many secrets, some good, some bad. But one of the most intriguing concerns Telscombe Village. Not to be confused with coastal Telscombe, Telscombe Village is an ancient hamlet tucked away in the Downs. It is only accessible by a narrow lane from the Lewes to Newhaven road. It is a quiet village and, because of this, is unspoiled by the 21st century.  What most people don’t realise is that the village was bequeathed to the people of Brighton and Telscombe Cliffs for their “quiet and peaceful enjoyment.” But few people know about this gift and why, it should be asked, has it been kept so secret?

Plans for new homes in small market town approved after four years

Plans have been approved to construct 32 new dwellings in a small market town, almost four years after they were first submitted. The South Downs National Park planning authority has finally greenlit the development in Petworth, West Sussex.
