We had a lively Full Council meeting last Thursday in the Chamber at Hove Town Hall. Brighton and Hove is such a vibrant City, with well informed and passionate residents that know how to stick up for their communities. And your Labour Council is keen to be responsive as much as we can. We received a petition from residents in Portslade, asking us to reopen the public toilets at Victoria Road Recreation Ground. I’m glad we were able to support this, with our Cabinet Member for Environmental Services, Cllr Tim Rowkins, announcing that we will be refurbishing the public loos and reopening them – hopefully by the end of this year. Your Labour Council is keen to encourage more people to use the city’s parks and open spaces by making them more accessible. To ensure that this facility is well looked-after, we are also adding two more staff to the team. This will add additional capacity for other toilets in the west of the city, including the new facilities at Hove Beach Park, which are being frequented in this hot weather!
