Thursday is World Book Day and with that in mind, an experiment that I've often wanted to carry out is a blind taste test of crime fiction. I am fortunate that as part of my business I'm asked to edit authors’ manuscripts before they go anywhere near publishers or readers and, on occasions, I chair literary festival panels where I get to meet many authors and for which I read their latest books.

Last week, we announced a new scheme enabling residents to opt-out of the council’s weed management programme.
